About Aaron Fedarko

"Beauty will inhabit a piece by virtue of the craftsmanship with which it is made."
~ Aaron Fedarko

As a craftsman and owner of Fedarko Furniture & Design, Aaron believes that patience, attention to detail and a passion for artistry are the building blocks of quality craftsmanship. His work draws inspiration from his western Pennsylvania roots, where he was exposed to Shaker, Amish and Appalachian furniture designs at a young age. His work is also deeply influenced by his current surroundings on the coast of Maine, an area where New England’s rich furniture-making culture merges with the 300-year-old maritime tradition of wooden boat building.

Aaron has studied with the renowned Kentucky chair-maker Brian Boggs. He is also a graduate of the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, one of the most highly regarded furniture-making schools in the country. Both of these experiences pushed Aaron’s artisanal skills and his design ideas in new directions, while simultaneously reinforcing his commitment to elegance and simplicity.

"The most important and challenging part of the design process involves casting one’s mind across the landscape of possibilities and distilling this chaos down to a single idea,” says Aaron. “I like to gradually tighten my focus until only the simplest, clearest, most essential elements remain. When you've done it right, form and function fuse in a way that is organic, elegant, and deeply satisfying to the eye.”

In 2007, Aaron's Belmont Series breakfast table was awarded top honors - the People's Choice Award - at Maine Wood 2008, a juried furniture show that showcases work from the best furniture makers in the state of Maine.

When working on commission, Aaron prefers to involve his clients directly in the design process. He believes that the best results arise from close collaboration, shared vision and an open exchange of ideas.

Aaron lives in Camden, Maine with his two sons and wife Molly, who is a graphic designer, illustrator and owner of Molly O’Cards.
